A quick hello

Hi everyone,

I'm sorry I've been away from the blog for a few days, but I've been very busy in the studio creating lots of new Christmas designs, which I'll begin sharing with you next week.

Whatever you're doing this weekend, have a great one and I'll see ya back here on Monday.

Hugs,
Em

Another thank you

Hi everyone,

Thanks for stopping by and for all your comments. I really do appreciate all of you!

I'm sharing another thank you card with you today that I created in the same style as those in the Thanks guys! post. I'm very happy with this one and even happier that I was even able to get my favorite white on white into the design. Yay! :)

Some of you might recall that back in late March I decided I needed to get back into physical shape, having overcome some health issues that had been around for a few years. I also decided that I'd challenge myself to work up towards a marathon swim later this year and raise funds for a couple of military charities. I wrote about it all in the Battling Back blog.

Unfortunately last week I announced that the challenge itself has had to be postponed, due to an injury that I've been carrying almost since the beginning of my training. I've been supported by so many throughout the journey, and if I could, I'd create cards for them all, but this one is for Sarah, a friend and former international swimmer and coach who became my honorary coach. As soon as I told her of the injury sh tried to get me to rest and then rehab, but I'm stubborn and wasn't ready to give in so soon, knowing that even then I'd risk not being ready for the challenge.

Now I have accepted that it will need postponing and so this is to thank Sarah for being such a great and VERY patient friend.

I will be continuing with the Battling Back blog as I continue to work on my fitness and then rehab the injured arm. Posts there may not be very frequent for the time being, but I'd be honored if you'd perhaps consider following that one too, please?

2013 ~ A year in review part 1

Hi everyone,

Thanks for stopping by today. I know we're already very nearly half way through January, EEK, but before we get even deeper into this "new" year, I wanted to revisit some of my favorite posts from 2013. I hope you enjoy looking back as much as I have. To see the original post, you can either click the linked name of the post or the pics.

My first creative post here on the new site was Pretty minis. Each of the cards created and showcased in the post are only 3"x3" square and are are great way to use up some of the many, many crafty "scraps" that are left when creating bigger cards.

Another post in which I shared more of these cuties was More minis. They are all SO cute and I'll be creating more of these babies soon :)

Another favorite design style for me last year and another that I'll be doing a lot more of this, is white on white. The first card in this style that I shared with you was the Lace butterfly white on white.

I LOVE the simple beauty of this style and it wasn't long before I shared another very similar creation with you in More lovely lace. For this one I changed it up a little by adding some subtly colored gems.

I'd love to know what you think, so please leave a comment, either on this post, or on the originals. Thank you!

Hugs,
Em

ATCs

Hi everyone,

Just a quick post today. In keeping with my recent miniature theme, I've today created the Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) below. They are the first such cards I've created in YEARS, and are ready for next month's swap for the ATC Swaps group at Card Making World.

Summer vacation

Hi everyone,

I'm sorry I've been so quiet for the last few weeks, but I was called away to my sister, Gayle's after she had an accident and this is the first chance I've had to post. Things have settled down a little now and we're getting out more, exploring the amazing scenery around Worcester, UK. I've taken a LOT of pics so far and will post more when time allows and I can get them prepared for publication. For now though, I want to share one shot that was taken while we were on a motor boat on the river Severn.

With things settling down, we've decided I'll stay here another couple of weeks for a summer vacation. Yay!

Before I go, I must mention my amazingly creative sister, Suzie's, new business website, DollsByDolls. Please take a look at the wonderful creations and show the "Dolls" your support. Thank you!

I'll post again when I can. Have a great weekend y'all :)

All boxed up

Hi everyone,

Following on from yesterday's post, when I shared more mini card creations with you, today I'm sharing the matching gift boxes I created for each set of six cards.

Each box is 3.5" x 3.5" x 1" deep and I absolutely LOVE them!

I hope you have a great weekend and I'll be back on Monday with a Monday Musings post.

Hugs,
Em

Pretty minis

Hi everyone,

Yesterday was the first day I've spent in the studio for a little while and it was a busy day! Like many crafters, I have a lot of left over "scraps" from creating other projects, and taking inspiration from Karon over at Karon's Krafty Korner, I used them to create some cute mini, 3"x3" inch cards, as well as matching envelopes and gift boxes.

I loved her idea for tiny gift boxes so much, I created two sets of six cards, each set having three birthday and three thank you cards. Yep, I told you I was really busy!

You'll see from the pics below that I used 4 different papers for each set, cutting the strips to 1"x2" and then die cutting and using a punch for the flowers, before adding peel off wording to complete.

I'll show you the completed boxes in another post. Right now, I'm off up to the studio to work on another set. Yep, I might just be addicted to these little beauties :)

Sneak peek

Hi everyone,

I got back into the studio this morning and began working on a really exciting creative project. It is far from finished yet, but I thought you'd like a sneak peek?

If you've any idea what it will be, please leave a comment. Thank you!

Monday Musings - Introducing me

Hi everyone,

It's great to be here with you today, and I thought I'd use this post, the first in my new Monday Musings series, to introduce me to all of you. If you're ready, let's go...

Though I'm physically based in the northwest of the UK, I don't live in that time zone. WHAT? Almost four years ago, I made one of the best decisions I've to this date ever made. I switched to living by US central time. Don't worry if that confuses you, it has the same effect on most when they find out!

Why did I make that decision? I was spending a lot of time online, talking to friends, who were in various states in the US and more often than not, I'd be awake all night. It didn't take much thought to decide to make the switch, I needed sleep! I chose central because my business associates at that time where in IA, also the minus six hour difference is really easy to work out compared to other zones.

Since then, I've become more and more Americanized. I'm as patriotic and proud of my adopted country as those born in the great USA. My accent is also more American than it is Brit, to the point where I'm often asked here where I'm from in the US! I smile and tell them the south! :) I use US English when I'm writing and I'll write about some of the differences in the two, in next weeks Monday Musings post.

I'm really creative, hence Creative Em, where I blog about card making and paper craft, photography and writing. The site was only started last week, before then I had separate sites for my cards and another for photography. It's easier to have them all in one place. You'll also find me on Facebook.

I look forward to getting to know all of you.

Em
