New arrival

Hi everyone,

Thanks for stopping by, it's an honor to have you here and indeed to read your comments too. The card I'm sharing today has previously been shown, looking almost complete, in my National PINK day post. My client was really happy with it, but with baby Eva having not been born at that time, she asked me to keep hold of the card until the little lady had arrived, and then add her birth date to it. Of course I was happy to oblige and when the little one made her entrance last Wednesday, I added the date and today is the first chance I've had to share it with you...

The details about how I designed the card can be seen in the original post.

National PINK Day

Hi everyone,

Thanks for stopping by today, it's an honor to have you here :) Today's card is for a commission I received on Saturday and the timing is perfect with today being National Pink Day. It's been a while since I created a new baby card and I had so much fun this morning designing baby Eva's.

I've created it in my current favorite k-card style and have once again used the lace border die to edge the card and also add the adorable trim to the socks. I've added another pair to the box top, this time in white with the pale trim...

Here's a close up of the socks...

Card in a box

Hi everyone,

I'm so sorry that I've not posted as often as I said I would, it's only been a temporary slip and I'm back on track now, I promise.

Recently there seems to have been an "explosion" of card in a box creations around the bloggy world, and so I thought I'd better get on trend and quick! Most tutorials or explanations I've seen describing this technique involve using two struts within the box. However, I thought that looked a little fiddly for me. I was thinking of a way around it, when I came across the perfect solution from Carole at Extreme Cards and Papercraft.

In her post Card in a Box Valentine Carole not only describes how using a band of card inside will solve the problem, she has also very kindly given a cutting file/PDF template for the box. To create my card in a box I used the dimensions she gives in the post, instead of printing and cutting the template, but even doing it this way it was SO easy! Thanks so much Carole!

I used a corner rounder punch to shape the flaps and the back panel, though the edges of that are hidden by the butterfly's wings. To decorate the box I cut pieces of thin pink and white pattered paper that are 1/4" smaller than the panels (2-1/2" x 2-3/4") and rounded two of the corners before adding them to the panels using double sided tape. The die cuts are all from the Dovecrafts "Garden Party" range and I've used a wet glue to stick the pieces together and adhere them to the inner band, the back and the panels. Even though the embellishments spill over the edge of the box, it does fold flat and will fit in an envelope easily.

This is my first card in a box and I can see me creating many more. I'd love to know what you think so please do leave a comment. Thanks!

Fan~tastic

Hi everyone,

Thanks for stopping by. Today I'm sharing some more of the cards I created with the same kit I showed you in last Friday's post Hidden gem. In that post, I didn't include the name of the kit, because I couldn't remember it. It's a member's gift from Hunkydory Crafts and is the Dragonfly Dance collection, but is unfortunately no longer available.

I created the cards for three very beautiful ladies, my sister Gayle and nieces Nicole and Megan and they were sent for Nicole's birthday, arriving right on time on her special day. The only extras I used from my stash are the holographic silver card and the gems I added. I love them all and I'm very happy to say the girls all did too :)

Tomorrow, I'm expecting delivery of some new crafting goodies, so in my next post, I'll share some of the creations I can already see in my mind.

Hugs,
Em

Hidden gem

Hi everyone,

Thanks for stopping by. The card I'm sharing with you today is one of the first that I've created this year. The toppers and papers are from a Hunkydory Crafts Club member's gift from late last year. I love the kit and the number of cards that can be created from it is amazing. I'll share more with you soon.

The style of the card is new-to-me and I want to thank Christina at Card Making Magic for teaching me and others, so much. Christina has a lot of tutorials on the website and on her blog, Flowers Ribbons and Pearls. This particular card is a Crossover Card and is really easy to create.

After creating the base card following the tutorial, making mine 5 and 3/4 inches square, I cut a 5.5" square from the pink swirly paper and then cut this on the diagonal adding it to the card using double sided tape. The circle topper has foam dimensionals on one side to raise it. The flowers have also been added using dimensionals. The dragonfly just has a dab of wet glue on the head and the tail and wings have been gently bent upward to give some shape and the illusion of flight.

For the inside of the card, I cut another square of the paper, this time to a 5 and 5/8" square, which leaves a small border around the edge. The topper has been added using a wet glue.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Hugs,
Em
