Monday Musings - Summer, what summer!

Hi everyone,

Last Friday, here in the northern hemisphere, saw this year's summer solstice, the first official day of summer, though most of us wouldn't have known without looking at a calendar, because the weather this year has been so crazy! Here, the sun shone for maybe a couple hours around noon, after struggling through the grey clouds. The only real indication of the season so far has been the heavy, humid air and the related sinus discomfort. As I write this, that discomfort has been replaced by a heavy summer cold that has me feeling like I've gone 12 rounds with the great Mohammed Ali. So apologies for this being a relatively short post.

The image below, of Stonehenge in the UK at sunrise on the summer solstice is credited to Stonehenge: Hele and Station Stones.

I'll be back, hopefully feeling better, later this week.

Hugs,
Em

Flip-flops

Hi everyone,

If you were with us on Wednesday, you'll remember I showed you this teaser...

I can now reveal that they were the soles of flip-flops, really fiddly, fun, flip-flops at that lol. They will look great on the finished project and I'll of course, share that with you too.

In a future post, possibly next week, I'll share with you how they were created. I'll be back on Monday with the next post in the Monday Musings series. Until then, have a great weekend :)

Hugs,
Em

Sneak peek

Hi everyone,

I got back into the studio this morning and began working on a really exciting creative project. It is far from finished yet, but I thought you'd like a sneak peek?

If you've any idea what it will be, please leave a comment. Thank you!

Hi everyone,

Thanks for joining me for the second of my Monday Musings series, if you missed the first one, you can read it here. Today is my first day back following a week's vacation, so this is just a quick post, highlighting some of the different words used in the US and UK for the same thing. There are so many! In the list below, the American word is first, then the UK version. I've tried to put them in some sort of order, but they might seem random, lol.

In the coming days I'll be sharing some of the images from last week, so please check back.

Monday Musings - Introducing me

Hi everyone,

It's great to be here with you today, and I thought I'd use this post, the first in my new Monday Musings series, to introduce me to all of you. If you're ready, let's go...

Though I'm physically based in the northwest of the UK, I don't live in that time zone. WHAT? Almost four years ago, I made one of the best decisions I've to this date ever made. I switched to living by US central time. Don't worry if that confuses you, it has the same effect on most when they find out!

Why did I make that decision? I was spending a lot of time online, talking to friends, who were in various states in the US and more often than not, I'd be awake all night. It didn't take much thought to decide to make the switch, I needed sleep! I chose central because my business associates at that time where in IA, also the minus six hour difference is really easy to work out compared to other zones.

Since then, I've become more and more Americanized. I'm as patriotic and proud of my adopted country as those born in the great USA. My accent is also more American than it is Brit, to the point where I'm often asked here where I'm from in the US! I smile and tell them the south! :) I use US English when I'm writing and I'll write about some of the differences in the two, in next weeks Monday Musings post.

I'm really creative, hence Creative Em, where I blog about card making and paper craft, photography and writing. The site was only started last week, before then I had separate sites for my cards and another for photography. It's easier to have them all in one place. You'll also find me on Facebook.

I look forward to getting to know all of you.

Creative Em on Facebook

Hi everyone,

Firstly, I'd like to thank y'all for your patience during the transfer process. I'm very happy to tell you, if you've not already seen it, that I now have a Creative Em Facebook page, which you'll be taken to if you click the link. The image below is the current cover photo for the page and will be the first of many :)

The cover features a couple of my favorite photos, as well as a collage that I love too. All of these and many more are available for purchase and you'll see a selection on the Facebook page. In the coming days I will be adding a selection of handmade greetings cards, all of which can be fully personalized and are made to your exact requirements.

Please email inquiries to info (at) creative-em (dot) com (the addy is written that way here on the blog so it isn't picked up by spam bots). You can also send inquiries via the Facebook page by clicking the "Message" button on that page.

Thanks again for your patience,

Em

New beginnings

Hi everyone,

Today marks the beginning of a new chapter of my life and it's a very exciting time. Those of you who know me will know that I enjoy many aspects of creativity. Up until this point, I've had different blogs for a couple of those, the EmCards and LES Arts sites. To make life easier for me, and you, this new site will combine all of those in one place; there will be crafting posts, photographic posts and those that will focus on my writing and occasionally just some musings.

I look forward to sharing all sides of me here on Creative Em and you'll see this site grow in the coming days as I get more organized! Thank you for joining me here!
