Project Landon Part 3 ~ Keepsake Blocks

Hi everyone,

Thanks for stopping by and for all your wonderful comments. I'm honored to have you here and I truly appreciate each of you more than you know!

The project I'm sharing with you today is the final part of "Project Landon" that was created to celebrate the much anticipated arrival of my great-nephew, Landon Ryan. If you missed the first two posts, they can be found here and here.

While I was creating all the other elements for the project, I wondered what I'd create as my gift for the little man. I originally thought about creating a mobile for his crib, but that wouldn't be much and I wanted something more substantial. Within seconds I realized that keepsake boxes styled as toy blocks were the way to go.

I used the same elements I'd used for everything else to create the blocks...

And added in die cut letters with the Little Letters Thinlits and a star from the Stars Framelits set...

I designed them to fold flat and so also created a box for the blocks...

Box lid, similar to the brag book box lid detail

Card: Whisper White and So Saffron
Ink: Lost Lagoon, Pool Party and Soft Sky
Markers: Coastal Cabana Stampin' Write (retired) and White Gel pen
Stamp sets: Celebrate Baby, Baby We've Grown (both retired) and Gorgeous Grunge
Tools: Simply Scored, Corner Rounder Punch, Little Letters Thinlits and Stars Framelits

The entire project was a total LABOR of LOVE. Yep, pun intended! Here are some of the stats from it...
13… Brag books, I LOVE YOU’s and mobiles
33… Sweet BABY stamped and colored images
39… Photo pockets
47… “Created with love” labels
119… “Landon”
133… Bunnies
179… Pairs of shoes, including 85 cut out
1328… Rounded corners

Hi everyone,

Thanks for stopping by and for all your wonderful comments. I'm honored to have you here and I truly appreciate each of you more than you know!

Following on from Monday's post, when I shared the birth announcement cards I created for the arrival of my great-nephew Landon Ryan, today I'm sharing the first part of the project to have been created; brag books.

Although only one is shown here, in a VERY image heavy post, there are indeed 13 that were created... One for each of Landon's 4 sisters, Brianna, Makayla, Chloe and Charissa; parents Tosha and Josh; his cousin Tristan; Uncles John and Daniel; Aunt Alicia; grandparents Beth and Wayne and also one for ME too...

Cover to cover...

Last but not least, the box lid detail...

The books were created over several months, just like the little man who's arrival they celebrate :)

Baby We've Grown!

Hi everyone,

Thanks for stopping by and for all your wonderful comments. I'm honored to have you here and I truly appreciate each of you more than you know!

On August 31st our family grew, with the much anticipated arrival of my great-nephew, Landon Ryan. Almost as soon as we heard that my niece Tosha was expecting, I started working on a project that I'll share with you tomorrow, to celebrate the little one's arrival. As that secret project neared completion, I asked my sister Beth, who was in on it, if she wanted me to create announcement cards for the little man's arrival. She did and so I set about working on them.

I'd used the now retired Baby We've Grown and Celebrate Baby stamp sets, together with my all-time favorite Gorgeous Grunge from Stampin' Up!, for the first part of the project, so used them for the announcement cards too...

Card: Whisper White and So Saffron
Ink: Lost Lagoon, Soft Sky and Pool Party
Marker: Coastal Cabana Stampin' Write (retired, used to color in BABY)
Stamp sets: Baby We've Grown, Celebrate Baby and Gorgeous Grunge
Tools: Corner Rounder Punch
Adhesive: Tombow

The arrival of Landon Ryan redresses the hormonal balance in the house a tiny bit, because there are 5 women in the house! The little man's older sisters are 5 year old twins Brianna and Makayla and 3 year old twins Chloe and Charissa, born to proud parents Tosha and Josh in earlier relationships, so Josh isn't alone any more! Grin.

I'll be back on Wednesday with more of "Project Landon", so I hope you'll join me then.

Oh, Baby

Hi everyone,

Thanks for stopping by and for all your wonderful comments. I'm honored to have you here and I truly appreciate each of you more than you know!

I've loved sharing the cute new baby cards with you this week and now they've received the card that I shared on Monday, I can tell you that the birth of a friend's granddaughter, Elowen Freya, was the inspiration for all the cards this week. That and wishing that the season of new arrivals, spring, would finally appear, but so far no luck on THAT one, here at least!

To close out "baby week", today's card is another for a baby boy, created with another of the sentiments from the adorable Baby We've Grown stamp set from Stampin' Up!

Card: Whisper White
Ink: Pool Party and Tempting Turquoise
Stamp set: Baby We've Grown
Tools and embellishments: Labels Collection Framelits, Dazzling Details, Stamping Sponges and Stampin' Dimensionals

Stamp the bunny image from the Baby We've Grown stamp set randomly in Pool Party ink over a panel of Whisper White card cut slightly smaller than the base (I cut mine ¼" smaller). Sponge the same ink onto the edges and attach to base card.
Stamp the Oh Baby sentiment from the set in the same ink onto a snippet of Whisper White. Cut using the second smallest Labels Collection Die. Sponge Tempting Turquoise ink onto the edges and pop up onto the base with Stampin' Dimensionals
To add a bit of sparkle, add Dazzling Details onto the bunnies bow ties and the binky.

Now it's that time of the week when I ask if you have a favorite from the week's creations. Click on the images to be taken to the post in another tab...

Once again, I'm not sure if I can choose a favorite. Can you?

Cute Boy

Hi everyone,

Thanks for stopping by and for all your wonderful comments. I'm honored to have you here and I truly appreciate each of you more than you know!

Following on from yesterday's Sweet Girl card, today I'm sharing one created for a baby boy, and yep, not only are they all cute, but I think the card, created again with the adorable Baby We've Grown stamp set from Stampin' Up! is too...

Card: Whisper White
Ink: Tempting Turquoise
Stamp set: Baby We've Grown
Tools: Decorative Dots EF, Decorative Label punch, Stamping Sponges and Stampin' Dimensionals

Stamp the cute boy image twice and both sentiments from the stamp set onto Whisper White card in Tempting Turquoise ink.
Punch out one of the images and the sentiments with the Decorative Label punch. Sponge the edges with Tempting Turquoise ink.
Fussy cut the pair of shoes from the second image and pop up onto the first using Stampin' Dimensionals
Emboss a piece of Whisper White cut slightly smaller than the card base (I cut mine ¼" smaller), with the Decorative Dots embossing folder. Sponge the edges and adhere to card base.
Pop the sentiments and image onto the base using more Stampin' Dimensionals.

Sweet Girl

Hi everyone,

Thanks for stopping by and for all your wonderful comments. I'm honored to have you here and I truly appreciate each of you more than you know!

For the last several weeks I've featured creations made with items from either Sale-A-Bration or the Occasions catalog, but for today's card and indeed for this week, I've gone back into the annual catalog and have used the adorable Baby We've Grown stamp set from Stampin' Up!

Card: Whisper White (folded base and snippets for stamping) and Crisp Cantaloupe
Inks: Crisp Cantaloupe and Strawberry Slush
Markers: Crisp Cantaloupe Stampin' Write (from the soon to retire 2013-2015 In Color set)
Stamp Sets: Baby We've Grown and Petite Petals
Tools and embellishments: Decorative Dots EF, Labels Collection Framelits, Petite Petals Punch, Basic Pearls and Stampin' Dimensionals

Cut and fold a piece of Whisper White card to form the base card.
Cut a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe card slightly smaller for a mat (I cut mine ¼" smaller). Using the second smallest Labels Collection die, cut an aperture in the Crisp Cantaloupe, saving the cut piece for another project. Emboss the card with the Decorative Dots EF.
Place the mat onto the card base as a guide (don't adhere yet). Stamp the sweet girl image from Baby We've Grown in Strawberry Slush ink onto the card base through the aperture and also onto a snippet of Whisper White. Adhere the Crisp Cantaloupe layer to the base.
Fussy cut the second pair of shoes and color the bows with the Crisp Cantaloupe Stampin' Write marker. Pop up onto those on the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.
Stamp three flowers from the Petite Petals stamp set in Crisp Cantaloupe and punch with the coordinating punch. Add to the corner of the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.
To complete the card and add a touch of bling, add tiny Basic Pearls to the buckle and bows of the shoes and the flower centers.
